D&K is one of the few laminating film manufacturers that offers lay-flat (mapped and matched) polyester film roll pairs. All polyester films have an internal orientation that naturally occurs when the base film is manufactured. This orientation becomes extremely important when using two rolls of polyester film together in two-sided lamination.

D&K uses a proprietary process to “map and match” polyester films so they lay perfectly flat when used together. The internal film orientation is identified, and rolls are then paired up and labeled. Click here for more information about D&K’s polyester film map and matching process.

LIGHT (LIT) Films:

• Light (LIT): Light polyester products are a nominal 1.3 mils thick with a clear, glossy finish. These films are ideal for most high speed laminating systems and offer a combination of low price point with good performance characteristics. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, and SuperStick adhesives.
• Light Gluable/Stampable (LIT G): A 1.3 mil film that accepts most glue types and foil stamping. Available with a Copolymer adhesive.
• Light Non-Reflective Matte (LIT NRM): Non-reflective polyester matte films feature a slightly dulled finish that reduces glare from overhead light sources. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, and SuperStick adhesives.

STANDARD (STD) Films:

• Standard (STD): Standard polyester films are extremely popular for high speed laminating projects including book covers, dust jackets, and presentation folders. These films contain a .5 mil base with 1 mil of adhesive. Standard polyester products are clear, glossy, and feature excellent scuff and scratch resistance. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, Educational, and SuperStick adhesives
• Standard Gluable/Stampable (STD GS): A standard polyester film with the ability to accept foil stamping and binding glues. Common applications include packaging, folding cartons, high-end sales literature, and soft cover books. Available with a Copolymer adhesive.
• Standard Non-Reflective Matte (STD NRM): A standard polyester with a dulled matte finish. Gloss levels are reduced for a soft look that is ideal for book covers, dust jackets, and digital output. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, and SuperStick adhesives.
• Standard Semi-Gloss (STD S): This semi-gloss finish features a slightly higher gloss level with greater clarity than non-reflective matte (NRM) films. Available with a Copolymer adhesive.

2 mil Polyester Films:

• 2 mil (002): This standard 2 mil polyester film is an economical alternative to 3 mil products. It is a good, general purpose clear film. Available with a Copolymer adhesive.
• 1/1: A slightly heavier configuration than 002 polyester films for added rigidity. These films have a 1 mil polyester base with 1 mil of adhesive. Available with Copolymer and Aggressive adhesives.
• 2 mil Pressure Sensitive (GU): A glossy 2 mil polyester base film with a pressure sensitive (cold) adhesive protected by a polyester release liner. Available with a solvent acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive.

3 mil Polyester Films:

• 3 mil (003): A standard 3 mil clear product . Common applications include menus, maps, posters, etc. The most cost-effective 3 mil configuration.Available with Copolymer, Aggressive,Educational, SuperStick, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 3 mil Non-Reflective Matte (003 NRM): An economical 3 mil matte film that offers a slightly dulled finish for reduced glare. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, and SuperStick adhesives.
• 3 mil Semi-Gloss (003 S): A standard 3 mil product with a satin matte/semi-gloss finish. This film has more clarity than non-reflective matte. Available with a Copolymer adhesive.
• 1/2: This is a heavier 3 mil configuration with a 1 mil film base and 2 mils of adhesive. Durable with good clarity for applications including point of purchase displays, posters, menus, etc. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive,SuperStick, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 1/2 Diamond Hard Velvet Matte™: This 3 mil polyester film features D&K’s proprietary Diamond Hard Velvet Matte Finish™ for a haze-free matte finish with added scuff resistance and a print/ foil stamp receptive surface. Available with Copolymer and Low Melt adhesives.
• 2/1: The heaviest 3 mil polyester configuration with a 2 mil film base and 1 mil of adhesive for added rigidity and durability. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.

5 mil Polyester Films:

• 5 mil (005): Standard 5 mil polyester films feature a 1 mil base with 4 mils of adhesive. These clear and durable films are used to add rigidity and protection to applications of nearly any type. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, SuperStick, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 5 mil Non-Reflective Matte (005 NRM): A standard 5 mil polyester with a non-reflective matte finish for displays, posters, etc. Available with Copolymer and Aggressive adhesives.
• 2/3: A heavier configuration of 5 mil polyester with a 2 mil base and 3 mils of adhesive. This film is very tough and durable. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, Low Melt, SuperStick, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 2/3 Flat Film: This 5 mil film stays virtually flat when laminated. Ideal for applications when lay-flat characteristics are essential, especially for IDs and other card products. Available with a Copolymer or SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 2/3 Diamond Hard Velvet Matte: D&K’s best 5 mil film available. This premium finish adds a soft, haze-free matte surface that can accept foil stamping and UV coatings. Available with Copolymer and Low Melt adhesives.
• 2/3 Non-Reflective Matte (2/3 NRM): A thicker and more rigid polyester film with a non-reflective matte finish for a soft look with reduced gloss. Available with Copolymer and Aggressive adhesives.
• 3/2: The heaviest 5 mil configuration available with a 3 mil polyester base and 2 mils of adhesive. This film is extremely tough and durable. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, ID, SuperStick, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.

7 mil Polyester Films:

• 4/3: An economical alternative to 10 mil films for applications including sales displays, IDs, badges, and more. Available with Copolymer and SuperStick adhesives.
• 4/3 Gluable/Stampable: A 7 mil film with a surface that readily accepts glues and foil stamping. Available with a Copolymer adhesives.

10 mil Polyester Films:

• 10 mil (010): Features a 2/8 configuration for a thick and durable overlaminate. Common applications include POP displays, menus, etc. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, Educational, SuperStick, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 4/6: A heavier configuration with a 4 mil base and 6 mils of adhesive. Available with Copolymer, Aggressive, Low Melt, SuperStick, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 4/6 Flat: This 10 mil product is specifically designed for card/ identification applications. It will stay virtually flat when laminated. Available with a Copolymer and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
• 7/3: This is the heaviest 10 mil polyester film available with a 7 mil base and 3 mils of adhesive. This film is extremely rigid with good durability and clarity. Available with Copolymer,Aggressive, ID, and SuperStick Digital adhesives.
