Lamination FAQs

12)  What specific precautions should be taken to reduce the curl in laminated sheets?

The most important precaution to keep in mind to reduce curl is to use the least amount of heat and tension needed to produce the desired results. Secondly, the condition of the substrate is extremely important when laminating. Paper that is very dry will most likely curl because the paper absorbs moisture after the laminating process. In contrast, paper stock that has a higher moisture content has a tendency to curl less. In addition, be sure to store paper in conditions that will minimize moisture loss during low humidity periods. Wrapping the paper in stretch wrap is helpful. Laminated paper covers produced in the fall or winter are likely to have less water content than covers produced in spring or summer. Therefore, when these covers are exposed to higher humidity, the paper will absorb moisture and expand.

13)  Is there a curing time involved with lamination?

14)  The film isn't sticking to my sheets. What's the problem?
